Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the QA/QC Manager, the Quality Coordinator enforces a rigorous Quality System for the entire set of Products and Work for the project he/she will be assigned to. This includes but is not limited to the authorship, management, and auditing function of quality, compliance and materials/equipment set forth within company and customer regulations while abiding by ISO 9001’s requirements. This position will work closely with the QA/QC Manager to ensure that the project is aligned with the PNR’s Quality Management System.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of quality procedures consistent with the policies of both PNR RailWorks and/or client contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for the auditing function to ensure compliance with all tests and inspections are completed as per customer specifications.
  • Responsible for the auditing of quality policies and field work practices to ensure all construction staff are following both PNR Railworks and customer policies.
  • Working with the Project Manager, he/she will develop and audit processes ensuring all assets are maintained as per current best practices. This includes state of good repair and housekeeping.
  • Develop and enforce quality control and quality assurance plans.
  • Will document and capture all audits and other quality assurance activities and report it to the QA/QC Manager. Collect and compile audit reports to identify opportunities for improvement and non-conformances. Following up with recommendations or corrective actions, if needed.
  • Will work with the QA/QC Manager to track, investigate, and closeout customer complaints and non-conformities.
  • Will develop and manage an overall quality risk management strategy with regular reporting to the Project Manager.
  • Generally works on own initiative with limited supervision.
  • Presents regular status reporting for all areas of responsibility to the Project Manager and/or QA/QC Manager for review and possibly before submitting to the customer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Must possess a sound judgment with developed organizational, interpersonal, oral/written communication, and analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplined teams while dealing with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work as a member of a large multi company organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to achieve goals set forth.
  • Ability to assess and reorganize priorities to suit changing requirements.
  • Familiarity with computers and computer based techniques/applications related to the work are essential.
  • Must have a valid driving licence with a clean driving record and ability to travel as required.
  • Availability to work nights / weekends, as needed.
Job Qualifications:
  • Postsecondary education in a related field or equivalent education. Bachelors in Engineering preferred.
  • Certifications such as Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, Six Sigma would be considered an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge level regarding construction techniques and practices, contract administration, construction inspection, the Construction Lien Act, the OHRC, and the Ontario Health & Safety Act.
  • Competent knowledge of the ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products is required.
  • Must attend and successfully complete the Training Department’s program for Canadian Railroad Operating Rules certification (including recertification as appropriate). Other training may be required to suit the positions requirements.

 

Physical/Travel/Attendance Requirements
  • Work will be 50% office environment and 50% in the field / work sites outdoors in all weather conditions. Available 24/7 to respond to calls of a serious nature.
  • Exposure to live train tracks / trains and high voltage environments.
  • Work is safety sensitive and personal protective equipment is required.
  • Travel to work sites is required.
