Flagging Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

This position will report to the Operations Manager, Project Manager or designate. The Flagging Supervisor provides support and assistance to projects. Responsibilities are varied but include; Customer interaction, Scheduling flagging and geometry resources, Audit of Flagging, Document Control and Briefing new Rules/Procedures, Coordinating the timely delivery of services and updating Project Managers and Coordinators.


Primary / Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Builds and maintains relationships with Clients.
  • Assists Operations team in Business Development.
  • Operate and manage the site based works for Geometry vehicle recording.
  • Acting as Qualified Flagger when required.
  • Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations
  • Communicate effectively with the work group being protected, other flagmen and Rail Traffic Controllers using established procedures and radio equipment to ensure the understanding of instructions, track protection limits, work site hazards and other specific site conditions.
  • Performs duties related to site administration including management of project related information and documentation , maintenance of Project files and Audit records, review of completed time-sheets, processing of invoices relating to Flagging and Geometry.
  • Tracking and reporting of production quantities and equipment utilization.
  • Generating daily cost/time sheets.
  • Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish, % complete and major milestones.
  • Tracking and collection of documentation for extra work, submittals and backup for billing purposes.
  • Acts as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to and promoting plans, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related administrative or project based duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary engineering or technical program in a related field is preferred.
  • CN Qualified Flagger with 2-5 years of experience.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a team.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, committed and honest.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
Clean driving record and ability to travel as required.

Talents and Abilities:

  • Ability to apply, interpret and understand contract law and language.
  • Proficiency utilizing common business and construction applications such as Microsoft Office products and JD Edwards software.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities; applies innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.
Physical/Travel/Attendance Requirements
  • Overnight travel to job sites is required.
  • Exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions.
  • Work is in and around live track (trains).
  • Work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas.
